Join Us as a Facilitator for Our IBD Support Groups and Online Stoma Support Group

At Crohn's & Colitis Ireland (CCI), we are committed to providing ongoing support to individuals living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). One of the most impactful ways we do this is through our peer-to-peer support groups, where people with shared experiences come together to offer advice, understanding, and encouragement.

We are now looking for volunteers to become Facilitators for our local support meetings and our new online stoma support group. If you are living with IBD and are passionate about helping others navigate their journey, this is your chance to make a real difference.

What is a Facilitator?

As a Facilitator, your role would be to guide and support a group of individuals who are living with IBD. These are peer-to-peer groups, which means the focus is on sharing experiences, providing emotional support, and offering practical advice to one another. You will be the person who helps keep the conversation flowing, ensures everyone feels heard, and creates a safe, welcoming environment for participants to share their thoughts and feelings.

In addition to our local face-to-face support groups, we are also launching an online stoma support group. This will allow those who may not be able to attend in person, or prefer the comfort of their own homes, to join in the support network. Facilitators will be needed to oversee these online meetings, providing support for individuals who may be facing challenges with stomas and the emotional and physical aspects of managing them.

Why Become a Facilitator?

Being a Facilitator is a rewarding experience where you can make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Here are just a few reasons why you might want to consider this role:

Support others in their IBD journey: Share your experiences and knowledge to help others who are navigating similar challenges.

Strengthen the IBD community: By facilitating these groups, you help foster a sense of community and camaraderie among those living with IBD.

Build lasting connections: You’ll meet new people, develop meaningful relationships, and become part of a network of individuals who understand the struggles of living with IBD.

Personal growth: Helping others is often a rewarding experience for your own personal growth and well-being.

What’s Involved?

As a Facilitator, you will help lead either local or online support meetings where participants can share their stories, challenges, and triumphs. Your role is not to give medical advice but to create a space for open and honest communication. You’ll offer encouragement, help guide discussions, and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to speak.

We understand that stepping into a leadership role like this may feel intimidating at first, but we want to assure you that training and ongoing support will be provided. You won’t be alone in this journey! We’ll equip you with the tools and resources you need to feel confident in your role as a Facilitator.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for individuals who:

Whether you are new to facilitating or have previous experience, we encourage you to apply. Every facilitator brings their unique perspective and voice to the table, and we welcome people from all walks of life.
