Bruno Lucas, Chairperson

Bruno Lucas is the Chairperson of the CCI's board of trustees. He became a member of the board in 2014 and was subsequently elected chairperson at the beginning of 2015.

Bruno has over 22 years of experience in Information Technology, innovation, and the management and delivery of services, with significant senior-level roles across the Financial Services and Telecommunications industries.

As a Director with Great West Life Europe, Canada Life, and Irish Life, he played a key role in designing and implementing technology solutions across Europe, with a strong focus on cost-effective and scalable strategies. In 2015, he joined Eir Business, where he led the architecture and systems function within the Managed Services Centre.

Bruno is currently Head of Technology Domain at Eirevo, where he oversees all professional services areas. His work focuses on ensuring service excellence, driving innovation, and delivering impactful technology solutions for clients.

Bruno became involved with Crohn's & Colitis Ireland to support the organisation in shaping and delivering its digital strategy. He brings a deep commitment to using technology to drive meaningful outcomes for the charity and its community.

Damian Strain, Vice Chairperson

Damian Strain has spent over 30 years in senior executive leadership across Irish and international businesses spanning consumer, food, and healthcare sectors. He was part of the founding team at Valeo Foods, where he helped guide the company’s growth through acquisition, integration, and international expansion.

Throughout his career, Damian has worked closely with boards and executive teams on strategy, governance, risk management, and large-scale organisational change. He has particular expertise in commercial strategy, supplier and stakeholder management, and building resilient operating models to support long-term growth.

Damian now works in a portfolio capacity, supporting organisations at board and advisory level, with a focus on governance, clarity of decision-making, and sustainable impact.

He joined the Board of Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland as Vice Chairperson to contribute practical board-level experience and to support the organisation in strengthening its governance and long-term effectiveness in delivering for its community.

Damian holds an MBA from the University of Ulster.

Alan Richardson, Treasurer

Alan Richardson is a qualified accountant with qualifications in Irish and International taxation.  Alan has 16 years finance experience in multinational environments having held positions within pharmaceutical and FMCG sectors. During his career he has built a reputation for operational excellence, innovative strategic thinking, working with the highest level of integrity with a deep and passionate commitment to his stakeholders. 

Peter Redmond, Deputy Treasurer

Peter Redmond is a chartered accountant and tax adviser with over 18 years of experience in finance and accounting. He trained in the Audit department at PwC Dublin and has since built a broad and dynamic career spanning the technology, FMCG, and telecommunications sectors.

He is known for his empathetic and driven leadership style, with a proven track record of initiating and delivering strategic and operational change in fast-paced environments. A highly collaborative team player and trusted business partner, he brings deep expertise in developing and executing finance strategies, building high-performing multi-site teams, and driving continuous improvement.

As Deputy Treasurer of the Board of Crohn's & Colitis Ireland, Peter is passionate about using his professional experience to support the organisation’s mission and contribute to the lives of those affected by Crohn's and Colitis. 

Ramani Moodley, Honorary Secretary

Ramani is the acting Honorary Secretary for CCI having taken over the position from our long standing Honorary Secretary Eoin Massey. 

She is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, a position she has held for the past fifteen years, and she is widely recognised for her dedicated advocacy in the field of human rights. She completed her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree before advancing her academic studies through the University of London, where she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma, and a Master’s Degree in Law. Her postgraduate work focused extensively on the rights of women, youth, and children in the international context, as well as the structures and functioning of the United Nations, with particular emphasis on its mechanisms for protecting human rights.  Early in her career, Ramani founded and led the National Association for Impaired Lawyers (NAIL), an initiative that underscored her commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and the promotion of equity within the legal profession.

Her professional experience extends across organisational development, public relations, and internal communication, where she has engaged with employees and stakeholders across a range of institutional levels. She has developed a strong working knowledge of current legislation and has been actively involved in policy drafting, review, and the practical implementation of governance frameworks.

During her tenure within the Legal Unit, Ramani carried responsibility for the amendment and maintenance of the Board Charter and the Charters of its subcommittees. Her role included minute-taking, drafting resolutions, recording matters arising, and translating board discussions into clear, actionable reports that supported implementation in line with the KING IV Report on Corporate Governance, the Companies Act No. 71 of 2008, organisational policies, and the company’s Memorandum of Understanding.

Emma Anderson, IBD Nurse Specialist Adviser

Emma is from Drogheda and trained to be a nurse in the Southern Area College of Nursing in Craigavon, Co.Armagh.  Emma worked in Endoscopy in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda until moving to the GI Unit in the Mater Hospital, Dublin.  She returned to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital and has been IBD CNS there for 9 years having set up the service in 2012. Emma completed a higher diploma in Gastroenterology Nursing in 2003, and studied to become a Nurse Prescriber in 2015.  Emma is the current chair of the IBDNAI. 

Ciarán Davis, Board Member

Ciarán Davis has been a director of Crohn's & Colitis Ireland since 2007 and served as Honorary Secretary from 2011 to 2019. Ciarán has been involved in delivering many projects for the CCI and and has been involved in  supervising the operations/support functions. He is especially proud of Living Well with IBD, which is our offering of the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme (CDSMP). Through a partnership between CCI and Beaumont Hospital which started in 2012, Ciarán trained first as a CDSMP leader and then a master trainer in Stanford University. He was a passionate advocate for CCI to roll out the programme to people who are living with IBD. Ciarán was the programme director for Living Well with IBD and worked on the successful roll out of the first courses in 2018 and now works with the HSE to deliver the programme online (as 'Living Well') during Covid. He has been called on to advise self-management coordinators in the HSE as they roll out CDSMP programmes nationally. Ciarán has trained over 150 leaders for Living Well with IBD and other organisations who are licensed to provide Stanford CDSMP programmes such as Beaumont Hospital, the HSE, and several other patient support organisations. Ciarán is a graduate of DCU and works as a business analyst in the utilities sector.

Fergal Troy, Board Member

Fergal Troy is a RICS Registered Valuer and Chartered Surveyor with over 15 years of expertise in the commercial property market. Throughout his career, he has worked across all property sectors, advising key domestic and international investors and financial institutions on complex valuation and investment matters. Fergal has developed comprehensive knowledge of commercial property market trends and dynamics, positioning him as a trusted advisor in the industry. His commitment to professional development is demonstrated through his leadership of an Early Careers Programme, where he serves as a key mentor to emerging property professionals, helping to shape the next generation of industry talent.

Beyond his professional achievements, Fergal brings valuable leadership experience from his previous role as Youth Group Leader for the European Federation of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Associations (EFCCA), where he demonstrated his dedication to supporting and empowering young people facing health challenges.

John Harvey, Board Member

John Harvey brings over 17 years of experience in marketing and communications in both the private commercial sector and the not-for-profit social innovation sector, delivering impactful strategies and innovative solutions across a range of industries. With a proven track record of driving meaningful change, John has led transformative projects that have been pivotal in achieving sustained success for organisations. His passion for social innovation has seen him make significant contributions to the not-for-profit sector, spearheading initiatives that address systemic challenges and empower communities.

John’s ability to bridge the gap between corporate expertise and social impact makes him a vital asset to our mission. As a board member, he is dedicated to leveraging his extensive experience to support and advance our goals.

Yvonne Bogan, Board Member

Dr Yvonne Bogan, is the newest CCI Board Member to have joined the organisation in 2025. Yvonne is from Donegal and works as Quality Team Leader in the Marine Institute Galway, having previously worked in INAB (Irish National Accreditation Board) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

With a background in science and now managing quality systems, project managing, chairing meetings, Yvonne brings experience in strategy implementation, risk analysis and driving continuous improvement.

Yvonne is also a qualified life coach.

Motivated by my sister Michelle’s experience with ulcerative colitis and being an ostomate, I joined the board of Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland to help support the CCI community."
